AI Disruption of Intelligent Systems Design

Electronics design is undergoing a revolution as semiconductors are used in more and more market applications. Each has its unique data and workload and requires customized compute and analytics architectures. Advanced semiconductors are implemented in the latest process nodes, in the most complex 3D-ICs, to achieve top performance with more operational flexibility. When the scope is expanded to the full system, complexity further exceeds the traditional siloed engineering teams and methodology. AI is addressing the growing complexity, finding optimal design outcomes, and disrupting past engineering methodology while substantially improving overall team productivity. Which intelligent system design challenges are most changed by AI-driven design solutions? What impact should be expected from applying AI to these challenges? And what is the frontier of AI solutions for intelligent system design?

Dr. Venkat Thanvantri is VP of R&D at Cadence where he leads the AI/ML development for the Digital and Signoff Products. Venkat holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida and a master’s from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He has over 20 years of experience in developing, managing, and deploying multiple EDA tools in the areas of timing, extraction, characterization, power, and place & route.
