As per a report on Artificial Intelligence Market by Grand View Research, the global artificial intelligence market size was valued at USD 93.5 billion in 2021 and is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 38.1% from 2022 to 2030. With the recent strides in Generative AI to create new content, ChatGPT has taken the world by storm. Yet there are daily reports of AI harm. Over 90 percent of businesses using AI say Trustworthy and explainable AI is critical to business. More than half of companies cite significant barriers to getting there including a lack of skills, inflexible governance tools, biased data, and more. Responsible AI is an evolving landscape that requires a comprehensive approach around people, processes, systems, data, and algorithms. In this panel discussion, we explore this ever-changing and complex landscape from the perspective of principles, tools and frameworks, legislatures, and standards.
Mrinal Karvir leads engineering for Intel® Developer Cloud for the Edge (DevCloud), a platform that provides instant remote access to deploy AI applications on the latest Intel hardware and software platforms. The Edge AI and Vision Alliance named the DevCloud a 2020 Vision Product of the Year. Mrinal manages an engineering organization responsible for driving DevCloud telemetry, AI solutions, security, and infrastructure functions. She has managed teams that developed innovative solutions in AI and contextual awareness and led the development of the world’s first presence-aware PC experience with Intel® Context Sensing Technology. She is an IEEE Senior member and serves as the Vice Chair for IEEE WIE SCV Chapter. She often serves on judging panels and chairs sessions for AI Conferences. She is deeply affected by the effect of AI solutions on society if not designed with responsible AI principles of fairness, transparency, preserving privacy, safety, and security. To help make a difference, she serves as an Ethical AI Champion at Intel to provide leadership on responsible AI practices. She strives to create awareness about the topic through talks, blogs, and discussions.
